Halloween is right around the corner friends. Don’t (like me) wait until All Hallow’s Eve to see what garments lurk deep in your’s closet archives that are funky enough to constitute a costume…and then end up as the Nerdy Catholic School Girl or 80′s something or other.

Thank the Internet, we have Rob Czar and Corinne Leigh of Threadbanger.com to inspire us with some inventive DIY costumes that can be made from recycled clothes, fabric spray, glue, and some serious gumption.

If you’re looking for a costume that will give you an excuse to speak in an English accent and behave like an utter lunatic all night long, this Mad Hatter costume is the way to go…

Now, if you are not concerned at all whether four months after a funeral is “too early” to don a costume of the deceased, go MJ all the way. With so many looks over the years, from Jackson 5 to Thriller to Smooth Criminal to 1800′s-gent-on-trial-with-umbrella, you will have no problem finding a Michael Jackson that suits you. I highly recommend studying a few of his dance moves to do this costume justice.

After watching both of these videos as well as Corinne’s How-To Tutu instructional, I feel I could turn over a new leaf this year and actually make my costume. Or, come to think of it…I could just pick up a leaf off the street and turn it over all night long. Tough call.

Please leave a comment below and let us know what you’re gonna rock this Halloween!

Okay ladies and gentlemen, in this easy to follow video, Emily Main of National Geographic’s The Green Guide takes you through an array of romantic, organic, and ethically-made gifts to shower your mate with on Valentine’s Day. Emily has covered the V-Day basics with guilt-free luxuries like a super cute lingerie set from PI Organic (note to guys out there: I received this from my man recently and I was very impressed with his sexy, eco-conscious choice), fresh cut roses from Organic Bouquet, ethically made in the USA jewelry by Moonrise, delectable Theo Chocolates (the Coconut Curry is amazing!), and organic boxed wine from French Rabbit, which to be honest, ain’t gonna go over really well with most ladies as a Valentine’s gift. But, for all those diehard boxed wine lovers out there, Emily does suggest sneaking it into a romantic movie, which is actually kind of hot.

Whatever you decide guys (and girls), make it happen quick! Your window to shop is quickly coming to a close. If you’re stuck for a last minute gift that will make your Mother Earth-minded princess squeal with delight, get her a gift certificate from the best eco online store there is…we’ll let you guess who we’d suggest.
