Junk to Funk Recycled Fashion Show Contest: A night of trash, fashion, art and sustainability.

Nov 03

This is a call to all designers, both would be and existing. Pull out your trash can and recycling bin and start digging, because December 2nd will mark the first annual Junk to Funk Recycled Fashion Show Contest. The show is to feature pieces of “wearable art” and fashion made from found objects, recycled materials and things you normally might find in the trash.

Contestants will compete for prizes up to $500 and will be judged by a “celebrity” panel comprised of David Bragdon Metro Council President, and representatives of SRAP, ORLO, and the PDX Sweat Free Coalition. Winners will be determined based on the amount of recycled material used, unique use of materials, creativity and craftsmanship.

The event will be hosted by Portland’s own Commissioner Sam Adams, will feature March Fourth marching band along with DJ Stay in School, junk art displays, a DIY table provided by SCRAP. Audience costumes are encouraged and prizes will be awarded.

Greenloop has donated a few funky items for the cause to help raise funds during the auction, and encourages all like minded people to do so as well.
