Organic Cotton Cuteness From Autonomie Project

Organic Cotton Onesie by Little Green RascalsThe Fair Trade fanatics at Autonomie Project are debuting their new children’s apparel collection Little Green Radicals™ in the US. Already a hit across the pond in Britain, this organic kids line offers adorable onesies, t-shirts, hoodies, and bibs for the newborn to 6-year-old set. Little Green Radicals is the perfect addition to Autonomie Project’s organic Fair Trade sneaker line. The theme of LGR designs centers around music from the Beatles (Give Peas A Chance) and Bob Marley (Get Up Stand Up), as well as some rather environmental sentiments (I Recycle My Tantrums and Locally Produced.) You can find the perfect one for your little cutie at AutonomieProject.com.

A*Muse Mental

Pam Anderson & Richie Rich on the Runaway TrainFor those of you who have not yet experienced the beauty and tragedy of Pamela Anderson and Richie Rich’s new organic clothing line, here’s the short and sweet (like a vienna sausage) on the line from environmentally-fueled gossip rag Ecorazzi, “Called A*Muse, the new organic clothing line consists of bathing suits, hoodies, zip ups, a full range of casual dresses, and beachwear. It debuted to mostly mixed reviews during New Zealand fashion week — with critics calling it everything from “fun and playful” to “Borat-inspired“. Anderson and her partner designer Richie Rich are now embarking on a world-wide promotional tour to debut the range in major cities in North America, Europe and Asia.”

I’m thinking more “world-wide pharmacy tour.” Please enjoy the video and decide for yourselves.

Questions for you, the viewers…

  1. Why is Pam holding up her A*Muse wrap/dress/mumu throughout the entire press conference?
  2. Is the A*Musing part of the line that the clothes don’t actually stay on without some serious effort by the wearer?
  3. Why aren’t the mannequins behind them wearing any clothes?
  4. Why is Richie Rich always in roller skates now?
  5. What are they on exactly?

Rain Tees For World Rainforest Week

Andira Rain TeesAndira Rain Tees was founded by Beth Doane in 2005. The word “Andira” describes a tall tree that grows in the Brazilian Amazon and has been been used medicinally for centuries by indigenous people. Due to logging and deforestation, the species is rapidly disappearing.

Andira Rain Tees are 100% organic cotton and designed by youth living in endangered rainforests across Central and South America. The illustrations are what they see around them and each Rain Tee features their name and thoughts about what’s happening.

For every Rain tee sold, the non-profit Kids Saving the Rain Forest will receive a tree they can plant to replace one that has been destroyed. Though a sapling is by no means an equal to a tree hundreds of years old, it is a small start.

World Rainforest Week is October 12th-18th. Take a moment this week to learn more about what’s happening in the rainforests around the world and what you can do to make a positive difference.

Reusable Dry Cleaning Bags Hit The Streets

Jendarling Reusable Garment BagWhat’s up with all that trash we get from the dry cleaners these days? We used to get a plastic bag and a hanger. Bad enough. Now I get my dry cleaning back with pink foam covering the top edge of the paper-covered hanger and both sleeves of my dress shirt stuffed with enough tissue paper to wrap an Easy Bake Oven for Christmas. So I do my best by unwrapping my overprotected garments and setting aside all the plastic detritus to return to the cleaners. Bummer.

Well, there’s finally another way. Reusable dry cleaning bags from  Jendarling (pronounced jen-dahling) and Green Garmento are starting to pop up both in the news and on the street. Jendarling makes uber fabulous organic cotton twill and hemp luxury garment bags for fashionistas or environmentalists who wouldn’t be caught dead carrying big plastic bags around in public. The Jendarling Lux Line goes for over $100, the Lux Lite is closer to $35.

On the opposite end of the financial Richter scale is Green Garmento for just $9.95. It’s a recyclable laundry bag that serves as garment bag, duffel bag, and dry cleaning bag all-in-one. According to Jenny Nigrosh from Green Garmento, the entertainment industry in Hollywood alone could save 100,000 pounds of plastic a year by scrapping single use plastic dry cleaning bags.
